NAPTAN Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Parent–Teacher Collaboration Nationwide
The National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN) has reiterated its commitment to promoting stronger collaboration between parents, teachers, and education stakeholders across the country as part of its ongoing efforts to improve educational standards and student outcomes.
In a recent engagement, the Association emphasized the critical role of parents and teachers in shaping the moral, academic, and social development of Nigerian children. NAPTAN highlighted that effective partnership between home and school remains one of the most powerful tools for building a resilient and high-performing education system.
The leadership of the Association underscored the importance of active parental involvement in school activities, policy discussions, and student welfare matters. According to NAPTAN, consistent communication and cooperation between parents and educators help create a supportive learning environment that enhances student performance and discipline.
The Association also called on government authorities and educational stakeholders to continue supporting policies and initiatives that strengthen Parent–Teacher Associations at all levels — from primary to tertiary institutions. NAPTAN noted that empowering PTAs with the right structure and guidance contributes significantly to school development, transparency, and accountability.
Furthermore, NAPTAN encouraged parents to remain proactive in monitoring their children’s academic progress, attendance, and overall well-being. Teachers were equally urged to maintain open communication channels with parents to ensure early intervention when academic or behavioral concerns arise.
As part of its broader mandate, NAPTAN reaffirmed its readiness to work collaboratively with federal and state education authorities to promote policies that prioritize quality education, student safety, and inclusive learning environments nationwide.
The Association concluded by urging all stakeholders to remain united in the shared responsibility of nurturing Nigeria’s future leaders through strengthened parent–teacher engagement and sustained commitment to educational excellence.
